COVID-19 Safety Equipment Teachers Should Have Before Returning To School

If you are a teacher and you are being required to go back into the classroom for in-person teaching, you are likely feeling apprehensive and worried about the situation. After all, the COVID-19 pandemic is showing no signs of going away or even getting better in most places. However, there are steps that you can take and equipment you can get to make your transition back to school safer and more comfortable for you. Get to know some of the equipment teachers should have before they go back to school. Then, you can be sure you stock up.

Protective Face Masks

The first thing you should have in large supply is protective face masks when going back to school during the COVID-19 pandemic. Face masks fit over the mouth and nose and can help keep out unwanted germs. They also keep your own germs largely inside the mask, helping to reduce the potential for you to spread COVID-19 if you become infected.

Have at least 10 protective reusable face masks in your possession at any given time. That gives you two per day every week, but you can also wash them more frequently if you want to change masks more often.

Reusable Face Shields

Masks are a great tool, but they are not nearly 100 percent effective. As such, you will also want to have reusable face shields handy for interactions with children. These reusable face shields fit over your head like a visor and come down covering your entire face. They are clear so that you can see through them and so that children can see you.

This is a great way to protect your eyes, which are vulnerable when you are wearing just a face mask. It acts as an extra layer of protection over the mask as well. This can help further ensure that you do not catch COVID-19 from a student and that you do not accidentally pass on the virus if you have it.

Reusable face shields should be disinfected every day after use to ensure that any germs they may have blocked from getting on your face are eradicated. Have a supply of at least a few of these face shields on hand at all times. Children tend to cough, sneeze, and do everything else without much regard for personal space. So, if a child (even with a mask on) coughs or sneezes in your face, it will be good to have a backup on hand to switch out.

Now that you know some of the COVID-19 safety equipment that you should have as a teacher when returning to school, you can be sure to get your equipment and get ready for school as soon as possible.
