Spin, Sit, Recline, Therapy, And Sleep: Office Chair Options That Will Blow You Away

Office chairs; a rather mundane item that most people do not even give a second thought. However, you really should give the office chairs in your office a second thought, especially when it is time for office updates. Have you seen what office chairs can do now? Thirty years ago they were only designed to hold a sitting person and maybe roll away from the desk. Now they do so much more than that, so it is worth going to all of the commercial office furniture stores to see what else the chairs do. Here is a snippet of information to get you started.

Roll and Spin

You would be hard-pressed to find an office chair that does not roll in any direction or spin three-hundred-sixty degrees. In fact, you have to special order chairs that do not have casters/wheels and do not spin or rotate. You can also buy office chairs that only rotate ninety degrees left and right to allow you to leave your seat, but refrain from spinning all the way around.

Recline and/or Sleep

Some businesses now allow employees to take short rest periods by reclining in their chairs. If your company practices this, then there are a wide variety of reclining office chairs. Some are extremely comfortable, which may lead to sleeping employees rather than resting employees.

On the other hand, some offices and companies on both coasts have begun the practice of allowing their employees an actual sleep period in the afternoons. The period may be thirty minutes to an hour-and-a-half, depending on the company. To accommodate this practice, office furniture companies have created extremely comfortable, ultra-soothing office chairs that recline all the way back into a sort of bed. The chairs have lots of extra padding and may even be set to warm the person sitting in one so that blankets are not needed.

Therapeutic

You would not believe the number of office chairs that now provide therapeutic benefits. The body was not made to sit for eight or more hours a day; posture and alignment become messed up and pain ensues. To avoid that, you can invest in office chairs that improve posture by making the body sit a certain way. You can also purchase ergonomic chairs, which are designed to help with your posture and alleviate pain. There are even chairs that provide encouraging massages when your day at the office is too much.
